About UK Christian Bookshops … the graphical directory
The primary purpose of our UK Christian Bookshops Directory is to help connect Christians with their local evangelical Christian Bookshop. We hope that we can help to raise the profile of the hundreds of these shops that remain on our high streets in spite of the recession, Amazon and the massive increase in online purchasing in today’s culture. Having lived in Gloucestershire for the last 29 years, I have personally visited and appreciated the work of three local Christian Bookshops in particular: the Good Book in Gloucester, Centre Bookshop in Stroud and the Good News Centre in Newent. Sadly, of these three, now only the Good News Centre remains in operation. As a family, we also had a strong connection with Revelation Christian Resource Centre in Chippenham in its early days and are pleased to see it continuing to thrive.
We hope that an increasing number of local Christians and local churches will see the great value of a Christian presence and witness on our high streets and will give more practical, finacial and prayer support in the years to come in order to see this vital work continue.
In 2006, the Quoakle team created the original graphical directory, Quoakle.com. More recently, the team has followed up the launch of its UK Restaurant Directories in 2012 with the development of a graphical Days Out Directory for families – Great Days Out in the UK.
It was having developed the county structure as well as the page layout for the Great Days Out website, that Quoakle director, Nigel Steele, realised the template his team had created could be duplicated across other directories. As a great believer in the importance of maintaining the physical presence of Christian Bookshops on the high street, the idea came to him to create a graphical directory to promote Christian bookshops and make finding their websites something very quick and easy. Quoakle already looks after the website for well-established Newent Christian Bookshop, the Good News Centre.
So what’s special about one of the new Quoakle Directories?
… It’s quick and easy to use!
Drawing on ideas refined on Quoakle’s local business directory, we created the new Great Days Out and UK Christian Bookshops directories, with a clean, clear look, and a simple page layout. We’re pleased to be promoting each business’s own brand through the prominent display of its logo as well as enabling users to see at a glance exactly what they want … and then with just one click, reach the website in which they are interested!
Our mission is to connect our users quickly and easily with a great variety of relevant websites through a directory that is structured very simply – county by county.
… It’s easy to find on Google and Bing!
Our websites are consistently on the top page of Google and Bing in the organic listings (left hand side of the page).
Check this out by typing into Google the keyword phrase: “Christian bookshops in the UK”.
Using a memorable, exact match domain such as www.ukchristianbookshops.directory is going to help us to make sure the website stays in that position.
Also check out county searches on Google and Bing e.g. “Christian bookshops in Herefordshire”
… No banner ads!
Maybe you don’t mind banner ads, but our goal as Quoakle Directories is to “do what is says on the tin” and not distract users with all sorts of other things they’re not looking for.
So for example, if someone is looking for Days out in Lancashire or Christian Bookshops in Kent, then that is what we’ll present to them on the appropriate page.
As a small, Christian, family-run company with a friendly approach, we look forward to working with hundreds of organisations and businesses across the UK. If you are interested in our other Quoakle directories then please click here to find out more!
